Learn More about Ventotene Island

Ventotene is a small Italian island of volcanic origin, located off the coast of Campania, in the Tyrrhenian Sea. Ventotene is the smallest island of the Pontine archipelago. 1.8 miles (3 km) long, its maximum width is 2600 feet (800 meters).

Ventotene is a gem rich in history and ancient remains, with a sea and natural habitats among the most beautiful in the Mediterranean. The seabed of the islet is a real paradise for divers who can admire rare specimens. For those who want to be closer to nature while discovering the history of the place, the island of Ventotene is ideal. The extraordinary size of the volcanic rocks, the colors, and the scents of the Mediterranean saltwater make Vontetene unforgettable.

Next to it is the island of Santo Stefano, dominated by the imposing mass of the Carcere Santo Stefano penitentiary, built in 1700. The architecture of this old prison will fascinate you with its arches and towers of the time, around the site, you will have a magnificent view of the sea from the heights of the hills.

The Roman port of Ventotene is carved in stone and is today a fascinating example of stratification, where history meets modernity, and where it becomes almost impossible to say what is ancient and what is not, you will be seduced by this atypical port.

Come and discover the beaches of the island, Spiaggia Cala Nave being the most popular, beautiful beach with exceptional scenery, rocks accessible to swimmers, and small bars and restaurants along the beach.

Small island but so beautiful, Ventotene Island is far from everything, but its crystal clear water and exceptional sea beds, as well as its ancient vestiges, will charm you.
